Holiday Home in a Beautiful Medieval town,
Sleeps up to 5 adults and 1 baby. The house is on three levels.

There is a cot and highchair Salies-de-Bearn is a very picturesque
town about 50 kilometres north-west of Pau in south-west France.
The town has the river Saleys running through it, which for much of
its journey through the town is in a man-made channel that can be
crossed by two bridges in Salies-de-Bearn, on the pont d’Andioque
and the pont de la Lune. Both bridges offer wonderful views of the
town with its lovely houses some of which are on stilts. The town is
full of narrow pretty flowered streets and is lovely for ambling
through and relaxing. There are plenty of bars and restaurants within
walking distance of the house. The Place du Bayaa is the heart of the
town and there is a salt-water ‘fountain of the sanglier’ in the
shape of a boar’s head in the square.
The salt festival which takes place the second week in September
attracts thousands of visitors paying homage to the famous salt, with
craft fairs, traditional games, parades, and a lively banquet.
There is also a 16th century castle, the Chateau Saint-Pe, behind the
Town Hall in Salies-de-Bearn and which used to hold the court of
justice for witches!
The town originally developed around the local salt industry. Legend
has it that this was discovered when an injured boar fell into a swamp
and was discovered later covered in salt and perfectly preserved. The
salt is thought to be essential to the taste of nearby Bayonne hams.
The thermal baths are well worth a visit, offering numerous beauty
treatments; the salt water is renowned for its healing properties.
Salies de Béarn is in an exceptional setting, halfway between the
Basque Coast and the Pyrenees, full of character and rich in history
with its unique architecture, ideally located to explore this
wonderful area with so much to see and do.
The town is vibrant and lively all year round with many colourful
festivals and cultural events; Salies de Béarn will captivate you
with the quality of its cuisine, the vitality of its businesses,
markets and artisans.
In the town within walking distance, you can find, open air swimming
pool, tennis, squash, fishing, golf club, casino, mini golf, cinema,
tourist office, numerous restaurants, and shops.

Pyrénées-Atlantiques is a fantastic area for fishing. Trout, salmon,
eel, shad, carp, barbel, zander, pike, black bass… Fly fishing,
casting, “toc” fishing – all the techniques are possible in an
area that provides an ideal setting for relaxing with friends or
Activities nearby, kayaking, rafting, horse riding, large swimming
lake with a beach and life guards and water skiing.
There are numerous beautiful sandy beaches to discover including
Biarritz, St-Jean-De-Luz, Hossegor, vieux bocau ideal for children
with a salt water lake. Bayonne and Pau 40 min and the stunning
charming city of San Sebastian 1 hour.
The winter ski resorts of Gourette and Pierre St Martin can be found
within 1.25 hours
